Outstanding Qualities

In springtime the leaves emerge a striking, dark purple-chocolate which, over time, morphs from a fetching burgundy infused with green to a medium green for the summer. Rosy magenta flowers with white tipped spurs rise and bloom just above the foliage. ‘Bronze Maiden’ forms an attractive, well-mannered mound over time.

Culture Notes
Grows best in rich, well-drained soil in light to open shade; morning sun and afternoon shade is excellent. Dappled to deep shade will greatly reduce flowering. Water regularly – at least once a week – or more frequently for lush, robust plants. This cultivar has semi-deciduous foliage which partially dies back in autumn and can be cut back any time after that, but be sure to cut the leafy stems to the ground before new foliage and flowers begin to emerge in springtime.
