Campanula portenschlagiana ‘Resholdt's Variety’

Dalmatian bellflower

Outstanding Qualities

With vibrant violet-blue blooms, this selection has a slightly richer flower color than the typical species and is also less vigorous in its growth. The beautiful flowers are produced over a long period of time from late spring well into summer and the foliage becomes a dense evergreen mat that is useful for filling crevices in a rockery or spilling over the edge of a container. Its spreading habit makes it ideal to weave around shrubs in the garden. The root system is not very competitive and will not overrun shallow rooted plants.

Culture Notes

This evergreen perennial grows well in full sun to light or open shade. It prefers a rich moist or well-drained soil. Provide regular watering during the summer. After flowering, gently shear off the old flower stalks and up to one-third of the plant to keep it looking its best throughout the growing season.
