Outstanding Qualities

Delicate lemon yellow flowers seemingly soar and hover amidst the new, rufous-colored foliage that, as springtime progresses, becomes infused with green until early summer when the transformation to all green is complete. This recently named species (1997) makes a superb tufting specimen despite its tongue-twisting Latin name.

Culture Notes
Grows best in rich, well-drained soil in light to open shade; morning sun and afternoon shade is excellent. Water regularly – at least once a week – or more frequently for lush, robust plants. This species has evergreen foliage which typically looks good through the winter; however, for ease of maintenance cut the leaf stems to the ground in late winter or early spring before the flowering stems begin to emerge.
