- This hellebore hybrid grows best in light or open shade and prefers a rich well-drained soil. Water at least once a week during dry weather. This newer hybrid has disease resistant foliage; however, the leaves can be cut to the ground in December or early January allowing for the best viewing of the flowers. Faded flowers can be cut back in late April.
